How does someone/ something earn or keep power?

Power is very important in the world. Everyone wants to have power and if and when they get it they abuse it. Power is hard to get but very easy to lose. One way you can earn power is by gaining the trust of others. The more they trust you the more you are able to do. Although, if you make a mistake and lose the trust of those you had power over you will lose the power. Another way to have power in a bad way is blackmail. I bet everyone has heard of or seen a movie that has something to do with blackmail. Blackmail is not a good way to earn power but you will get the person you are blackmailing to do what you want if they don't want what you know, or have to get out. Also, you can be the boss of people to have power. People must respect the person who is the boss of them and do what their boss tells them to, so they don't lose their job. Since, power is hard to get your must work hard to deserve it.
